Digital audio tracks (interceptions, recordings, …) are increasingly being considered as possible evidence during investigations and in trials. However, the correct acquisition and interpretation of such data often requires specific skills. The proposed training course aims to provide the skills necessary for handling and analysing digital audio data in the forensic field. The topics covered in the course draw on different fields, such as sound theory and digital audio, methods for handling digital audio in the forensic field, technologies for the analysis and processing of the audio signal. During the course are presented the main techniques for the verification of integrity and authenticity, processing and analysis of digital audio, supported by the corresponding theoretical basis. The necessary expertize to present the results coming from the analysis phase is also illustrated. Lectures will alternate with practical sessions on simple case studies, in order to put the acquired concepts into practice.
