Information on the life-cicle of multimedia data is a decisive element for its admissibility and fruitful use in legal proceedings. Life-cycle refers to the chain of processes suffered by the digital content from its generation up to the present moment.

For example, an image coming from a digital camera, can be resized, uploaded/downloaded from a social network, re-compressed using JPEG encoding.

FORLAB carries out the analysis of processes suffered by the multimedia object, by studying the digital traces that these processes leave within the signal itself. The reconstruction of the “digital story” of the data is achieved by combining the extraction and analysis of such digital footprints, with the analysis of information related to the context in which the digital content is.
