Digital images and videos could be partially useful during investigations and trials due to their poor perceptual quality, which does not allow the extraction or understanding of relevant information conveyed by the digital data.

For example, poor lighting conditions, blur, color overlay, compression artifacts, can compromise the success of operations such as reading a license plate or face recognition.

FORLAB carries out the enhancement of intelligibility of digital images and videos through the application of Forensic Image and Video Enhancement Software (FIVE), allowing the rextraction of relevant information. The process of enhancement is properly documented in order to ensure the repeatability of all the applied operations.
